I guarantee that no one can do a better job of interpreting people's speech and putting it into correctly punctuated, grammatical sentences (and we know that's not the way most people talk). Unless you want all the "uhhs," "likes", "you knows" and false starts, we will eliminate them. (Filmmakers naturally want every syllable). |
The art of good transcription is comprehension. It's not just
putting words on paper but putting the right words on paper. We
have a broad scope of knowledge and information and will not type
gibberish. We also care about the subject matter and mastering its
vocabulary. The Internet makes this easy and we will make every
effort to look up names and correct spellings. We are also good
with accents (although some are more challenging than others!)
Certain things like poor sound or multiple speakers may affect the time required but the above chart is more or less what you can expect. And remember, a good recording will give you a good result, and bad sound isn't something that can be improved or changed once a recording is made. The important thing is not the media (tape or digital) but well-placed microphones and a quiet recording environment.
